Response One Chapters 1-3

In a well written paragraph, tell me which character from the Outsiders you would like to be your friend. Use the BOOK with page numbers and paragraph numbers.

OR

In a well written paragraph tell the differences between the greasers and the socs. Use the book with page numbers and paragraph numbers.

2.

The differences between the greasers and the socs are that the greasers are more emotional and truthful. While the socs are always behind a wall of aloofness, careful not to let their real selves show through, and they are the ones that are doing all the bad things. This was found on page 38, paragraphs two and four.

Very interesting. I am sure the greasers didn't cause most of the trouble though. ~Mrs. Best

We all know that the fifth commandment is: Thou shall not kill. With that in mind, tell me what you would be feeling AND what you would do now if you were Johnny at the end of Chapter 4.

#2. If I were Johnny, i would feel very scared because then you would feel really guilty after what you had done, or you just can't get over it. Also, you wouldn't know what would happen next after you have done some wrong like killing someone. If I were still Johnny, i would have told at least one of my parents or the person watching me what i have done so it can be fixed. However, i have gotten in trouble, i would have deserved it.

Very true. I am sure I would have told one of my parents or another trusted adult. Too bad Johnny didn't really have parents. ~Mrs. Best

Hey Katie,
It is Katie. I am commenting on your paragraph above this. I agree with you that I would feel horrible. I agree that if I did get in trouble I would deserve it. I don't get what you mean with i would have told on of my parents. Johnny's parents could care less about him; so Johnny's parents wouldn't care that he killed someone.

Week Two

A. On Pg. 92 it says: Johnny wasn't behaving at all like his old self...That was the first time I saw him without that defeated suspicious look. Explain what the author is inferring.

OR
B. Explain what Ponyboy finds out about Randy and the other Socs at the end of Chapter 7.

What Ponyboy finds out about Randy and the other socs at the end of the 7th chapter is that Randy isn't really like the rest of the socs. Randy is more laid back and is actully being nice to Ponyboy. But really, Randy is not a soc. Also, what Ponyboy finds out about the socs, is that they might b the ones who killed Bob.

Very interesting. I am sure Randy does not say he killed Bob, so maybe you could show this to me. ~Mrs. Best

Response #2

A. When we get to know people better, we usually like them more. If that's true, what could we do if we really don't like someone?

OR

B. Explain what Two-Bit means when he says: "The only thing that keeps Darry from being a Soc is us."

A. what we could do if we really don't like someone we can tell them our feelings about them or you could spend more time with that person so you'd get to know them more better and then you may become good friends. However, the best thing to do is spend more time with that person because it wouldn't make them feel as bad as the other option.

Hey i said the same thing and agree to spend more time with the person and talk and get to know them more. i said maybe they might become best friends. but, dont you think it is better to be that person who talks to them and spends time with them instead of hating them because it takes way to much energy to hate and be mean to people when you can use that to have fun with your family, friends, and even that person you hated.

~ Nina :)

Very true. You both are on the money! ~Mrs. Best
